Lost Landscapes
Recreated
Low Tide At Hallsands c. 1900
The lost
village of Hallsands has been painstakingly put back together in jigsaw-like
fashion using a huge selection of images sourced from library & museum
archives, a selection of books and most usefully an 1885 O.S. map, which was
essential in establishing the relationship between buildings, as no image
available shows more than a section of the long thin village.
Our
own recent photographs have been helpful in establishing the lie of the land, in
conjunction with the 1885 map.
We
are likely to produce more images of Hallsands, as there is so much scope for
further exploration thrown up by the research already done.
